Rev-A-Shelf opens big new facility in Blankenbaker Station

Jeffersontown-based Rev-A-Shelf LLC cut the ribbon on a new manufacturing and distribution center in the Blankenbaker Station Business Park on Tuesday.

The ribbon cutting wraps up a project that we've been watching for a couple of years now. We reported in April 2013 that the company had received $240,000 in tax incentives from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority. Those incentives were based on plans to invest $14.4 million on the project. Rev-A-Shelf then purchased land for the building in September 2013 for $3.3 million.

The new 315,000-square-foot facility is located on Earl Jones Way, near Plantside Drive. Shari McPeek, marketing manager for Rev-A-Shelf, said the company began moving employees into the new space in early January and expects to be finished moving by Feb. 1.

Rev-A-Shelf is a division of Jones Plastic and Engineering Co. LLC. It designs and manufactures residential cabinet storage and organizational products.

The company had been leasing space on Produce Lane for some its operations. It's now out of that space and is bringing all Rev-A-Shelf operations in this new space, said company secretary Steve Jones Sr. He said having everything under one roof will make the company more efficient.

Rev-A-Shelf used several contractors for the project, including Kelley Construction Inc. and Louisville Paving Co. Hollenbach Oakley was the project engineer. Kovert Hawkins Architects also was involved in the project, Jones said.

With this new construction project, Jones Plastics has three buildings in the area. It plans to continue operations in one the buildings, 2410 Plantside Drive, where it does plastic molding. The other building — across the street at 2409 Plantside Drive — will be vacated. Jones said company officials have not yet decided what to do with the vacated space but that it might be put on the market.
